Frills and bows scattered throughout the crowd meant only one thing in Glasgow: Nieve Ella was taking to the stage. The 22-year-old has stormed the music scene over the last few months with the release of heavily anticipated Ganni Top (she gets what she needs) in September, after a dream supporting slot for the legendary girl in red the month before.

Nieve has quickly amassed an impressive fanbase and, as they all scream Chappell Roan’s HOT TO GO! before the English artist takes to the stage tonight, it’s hard to believe her first EP was released only in January 2023.

Alongside Fran on bass, Matt on drums and Finn on guitar, Nieve announces they have been playing a new song for the first time on this tour. It’s called Good Grace and, from the reaction its name alone receives from the crowd, it’s safe to bet this will be another instant hit upon release.

Pausing for a moment, Nieve asks the room “Does anyone know Tucker?” she is, of course, referring to the internet’s favourite lover-boy/boyfriend, ROLE MODEL, as the responding squeals of delight from the audience only highlight. She then confesses that she herself has a boyfriend and “really likes him, guys”. The next track is “what she wants him to think of her”. Screams of gleeful support echo from the crowd as Nieve launches into the doting Look At That Woman from ROLE MODEL’s 2024 release Kansas Anymore.

Ganni Top (she gets what she needs) soon followed and was exactly as fun as you’d expect it to be. An internet sensation even before release, the track is the definition of a sing-along hit and taps into all the main arteries of a pop-rock anthem while also staying true to the feminine experience.

Nieve is well on the way to stardom and, with such devoted fans, it seems as if she will get there rather quickly. With album number one still on the way and appearances at TRNSMT as well as Reading and Leeds Festival coming up, it’s set to be an exciting time for the breakout musician.
