Remi Wolf brings her sound overseas to Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom

The musician put on a colourful performance.

Remi Wolf has swapped the sunny shores of California to bring her Big Ideas tour to the UK and Ireland. It’s not been long since she was last on this side of the pond and a sold-out Barrowlands is a testament to how bright she shone while supporting Olivia Rodrigo back in May. Remi’s third album of the same name as this tour, Big Ideas, released this past July. It seems she has been riding the success “like a wave” ever since.

Tonight, Remi took to the iconic Barrowland stage after the members of her band had found their places. The air hums with anticipation as the lights flare and she launches into Cherries and Cream. The crowd sings each track word for word from the get-go, and Cinderella follows as an early highlight. Smiles are plastered across every face as eyes fixate on the stage so as not to miss one moment.

Remi soon greets the appreciative audience as she says “Hello Glasgow” in a slight Scottish accent. She shares that her album Big Ideas was written over a “two-and-a-half year period while on tour”. A highland cow balaclava is thrown onto the stage and Remi pulls it over her face. She considers sporting it for the rest of the night. The audience seems to like this idea and begin to moo in appreciation but she returns it to it’s rightful home instead.

A personal favourite from the new album, Wave, sounds incredible live and the audience really get behind each drum beat. Photo ID — on which she collaborated with none other than 2022 Grammy Award nominee Dominic Fike drew what was an incredibly fun night to a close.

Remi is a natural performer and has an incredible vocal ability. Her show was full of jokes and a good mix of old and new music. Bristol and London remain on this leg and they are all truly in for a treat.
