So Neurotic — the title track of Alice’s debut EP — details the mind of an overthinker; someone putting anxious thoughts down onto paper. The accompanying music video brings these anxious thoughts into physicality, a design she only gave the costume designer Lauren MacDonald a brief of creating “a creature that is menacing and stressful but also a bit cute”. As anyone with anxiety will know too well, it feels like you’re carrying a weight around with you; there’s a demon on your shoulder you can’t shake off.

Having previously been in a successful shoegaze duo as Big Deal and as the live bassist for since-disbanded Superfood, Al started branching out into solo work only last year and has proved she’s just as good by herself. With a CV this good, you’d be a fool not to tune in when the EP drops this summer.

So Neurotic is out July 28th.
