As the last weekend of August approaches, Bristol is preparing to send off the summer at Forwards Festival.

The weekend is sure to start with a bang, with the opening Saturday seeing London’s hip hop icon Loyle Carner headlining. It feels fitting for Carner to be headlining the festival, with his authentic social engagement and previous manta being “take these words and go forwards.” Eclectic electronic superpowers Four Tet and Floating Points are also headlining the Saturday, sure to bring a subversive groove that the people of Bristol will love. Saturday at Forwards is brimming with potential, with Joy (Anonymous), Greentea Peng and ROMY amongst other talent set to perform.

Sunday is due to continue the musical excellency and end the weekend on a high. With the legendary LCD Soundsystem headlining alongside Jessie Ware, Underworld, and The Jesus and Mary Chain – a timeless line-up that speaks for itself. The Sunday also puts a spotlight on recent talent, with the innovative CMAT and Glass Beams sure to inspire crowds.

In true Forwards fashion, the festival continues to have a social focus and embrace the local community. This will occur on and off The Information Stage – a space dedicated to speakers discussing social change. A selection of the weekend’s line-up are part of Big Team’s Next Level Artist Development Programme, a project that helps to support aspiring artists, including: Sambee, ava zarate and Laura Dia. The line-up also boasts local Bristol talent including Danny Chaska, Cousin Kula, and LICE.
