Rachael and Paul Swinton are the talented twins who make up Cloth, the Glasgow-based duo rapidly resonating their way into the indie hearts of many. 2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for them, especially with the recent announcement of their third album Pink Silence, which is set for release on April 25th via Rock Action Records

The record is produced by the renowned Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius) and features musical inputs from a seriously impressive group of collaborators, such as Portishead’s Adrian Utley, Owen Pallett, and Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite. The band state that they have tried to leave the songwriting more up to intuition than they had previously done before. With no mould or specific framework, they wanted the songs to be naturally captivating, with no unnecessary frills. As a result, the album is rumoured to reach new heights and is full to the brim with innately emotional complexity and honest, unfurling textures.

Their new single Golden confirms just that. Carried by woody percussion and soothing vocals, the single encapsulates how it feels to experience a dissolving relationship. Paul reflects that it’s “one of the album’s most musically upbeat moments, with a great hi-hat driven beat in the chorus and a bridge which might be my favourite of any Cloth song”. The chorus is certainly one that begs to be heard, with addictively succulent harmonies and a driving rhythm; it’s a real earworm that leaves you humming long after. Watch Cloth’s shadowy silhouettes live out the visceral lyrics under provocatively low lighting in the newly released music video.

Cloth will be heading out on a UK headline tour throughout March, bookended by shows opening for Mogwai.

Pink Silence is out via Rock Action Records on April 25th.
