Djo announces 3rd album and first ever UK tour with new single ‘Basic Being Basic’
It’s Joe Keery’s first new music since 2022.
At some point, you’ve probably heard of Joe Keery, whether that’s from his breakout role as Steve Harrington in Netflix’s Stranger Things series or thanks to the viral hit End of Beginning, which has taken TikTok by storm since its release in 2022, finding it’s peak in 2024.
Although mostly known for his acting, Joe — known in this case as Djo — has made waves with his synth-heavy, pulsating sounds that have set him apart from his peers. Starting his music career in the psychedelic rock band Post Animal before leaving in 2019 due to acting commitments, it’s safe to say Joe has always had one hand firmly in the music industry and is finally earning the praise he deserves.
Announcing himself back in 2019 with debut single Roddy and a wig and glasses to draw attention away from his fame, Joe has since seen incredible numbers and achievements. You’d be hard-pressed to find one TikTok teen who hasn’t heard End of Beginning.
Coinciding with a nomination for Best International Song at the BRIT Awards, today Joe announces his first-ever world tour, including four UK and Ireland dates, marking his first time playing the UK. Considering the 32-year-old American only came to London for the first time last year to present the Best New Artist at the BRITs, this is going to be one to remember.
Alongside the tour, Djo will release his third album, The Crux, and subsequently take his new material on the road. First single from the album, Basic Being Basic, shows a new side to the producer and songwriter: the track is two minutes and 38 seconds of pulsating rhythm with self-analysing lyrics and is one to be put on loop.
