Good Music is collaborating with NOISE FOR NOW, an organization focused on making change through music, and has released its compilation album to help abortion rights grassroots organizations. Available for one day only (part of Bandcamp Friday), the project features many artists you know and love: Death Cab for Cutie, David Byrne and DEVO, Fleet Foxes, Mac Demarco, Maya Hawke, Soccer Mommy, Sunflower Bean, The Regrettes, Wet Leg and many more. The compilation features unreleased exclusives that are only available through Bandcamp.

Meant as a fundraiser, 100% of net proceeds will be split between non-profits Brigid Alliance, and music-focused organization NOISE FOR NOW, who are working with Abortion Care Network to aid independent abortion clinics. Those inclined to purchase the album may spend $19.73 (£17.79) and add in extra monetary donations as seen fit. If that wasn't enticing enough, Liberate Abortion’s cover art by former Sonic Youth star and current solo artist Kim Gordon as a t-shirt for an extra donation.

Tracks available on the compilation include various demos that music collectors will love from Wet Leg, Soccer Mommy, Emma Bradley, Sunflower Bean, Animal Collective, Death Cab for Cutie, Charlie Hickey, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and more. Exclusive live performances from The Regrettes, Cat Power, R.E.M., The Album Leaf, Amanda Shires and Jason Isabell, Fleet Foxes, Pearl Jam, Andrew Bird, Silversun Pickups, and PUP are a part of the compilation, along with a few originals come from Slater-Kinney, Mac Demarco, David Bryne & DEVO, Puralone, Maya Hawke, Daniel Rossen, Tegan and Sara, Bully and more. And yes, there is a cool (and timely) cover of Kate Bush’s This Woman’s Work by Caroline Spence, Erin Rae, Michaela Anne, Trisien for those who are still in their Kate Bush listening era post-Stranger Things.

There is a lot to love about the music these artists are bringing to the table; however, the most powerful thing is utilizing their platform to help a fundamental human right. Tegan and Sara, featured on the compilation, explain their reasoning for joining the project: “Every person faced with the choice to keep a pregnancy or not should have access to a safe and legal abortion should they choose one. Their body, their choice.”

A sentiment shared by plenty in the music scene, including those who are not featured on the compilation album, the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade in the United States has caused a variety of artists to come together to do what they can to aid the cause. We look forward to seeing what other creative efforts can be made toward making change.
