Japanese Breakfast have announced their fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), will be released in March, four years since the release of the GRAMMY-nominated album Jubilee.

This album will see frontwoman and songwriter Michelle Zauner take the experimental indie-pop outfit in a new direction, with a deeper, more melancholic approach than it’s predecessor. Produced by GRAMMY Award winner Blake Mills, this will also be their first studio release after years of using improvised recording spaces in warehouses, trailers and lofts.

Recently released lead single Orlando in Love is a track inspired by Orlando Innamorato, an unfinished epic by Renaissance poet Matteo Maria Boiardo, and it gives us a taste of the beautiful melodies and lyricism that we can look forward to hearing more of in March.

The band have announced a 2025 tour in support of the album release and will be visiting 25 venues across North America and Europe between April to September.

For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women) is out March 21st via Dead Oceans. Pre-order the album here.
