Paramore announce a reworked version of ‘This Is Why’
The follow-up to the acclaimed album has arrived with a unique twist.

After releasing their first album in six years, Paramore have taken a non-traditional route in regards to following it up. It’s not a deluxe version, it’s also not technically a remix album; rather, it’s a bundle of creativity packaged into a whole album for fans to enjoy. Re: This Is Why sees Paramore collaborating with a wide range of artists; some remixing, some adding their own flare to a reworked track. It is the band’s first remix album and first body of work since parting ways with Atlantic Records.
Hints towards new songs, perhaps a deluxe edition, were revealed through posts on X (formerly Twitter) and Discord. An initial post detailing specific dates and cryptic rearrangements of This Is Why revealed itself to be the rollout for the remix album cycle, while snippets of the reworked and remixed songs were posted to the official band Discord. While it hadn’t been fully given away, fans began to speculate a deluxe version or the closer guess of remixed releases upon hearing the snippets.
Announced on Monday, the “almost a remix album” will be released on October 6th. The album itself is described by the band as an homage to artists who have been inspired by or have inspired Paramore. This Is Why Tour openers Foals and The Linda Lindas make appearances on the record, alongside familiar names such as Remi Wolf, Wet Leg, Julien Baker, Bartees Strange, and more. Acclaimed New Zealand DJ and interviewer Zane Lowe has also contributed to the album. Placed at the end of the tracklist is a non-remixed, demo-only track, Sanity.
In a world where re-recordings and reworked songs are becoming a popular tactic, it’s intriguing to see Paramore inviting a host of collaborators from a variety of genres to contribute to a body of work. With This Is Why being largely inspired by the band’s influences, it makes sense for them to carry that spirit into a follow-up. The era isn’t coming to an end, but rather being expanded upon into something wonderful and celebratory.
