The Wombats announce 2025 tour and 6th album ‘Oh! The Ocean’
The Liverpool band reveal first single ‘Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want To Come’.
Today, indie rock veterans The Wombats reveal news of their sixth album, Oh! The Ocean, slated for a February 21st 2025 release and a string of UK arena shows, amid the first new single in two years.
From their 2007 debut, the Wombats have made it clear they get indie music, with catchy choruses on teenage indifference and instantly identifiable riffs. In 2015 they released Glitterbug, whose Greek Tragedy became a TikTok hit, and their most recent effort, Fix Yourself, Not the World shot to number one on the Official Album chart.
Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come is, in many ways, a more subdued affair compared to The Wombats we know. There are no fuzzy licks or hurried choruses, but it sounds as fresh as anything else the band have done. Written with vim and vitriol toward social gatherings you don’t really care that much for, it’s full of witty verses (“It’s not that I hate you / I just hate everyone”) and shimmering harmonies. It’s a worthy addition to The Wombats catalogue, one which titillates the musical taste buds and has us wishing it was February already.
Oh! The Ocean is out February 21st 2025 via AWAL and is available to pre-save and pre-order here.
