Following on from this year’s edition of the festival which had Liam Gallagher, Gerry Cinnamon and Calvin Harris headlining, next year’s TRNSMT festival was announced this week to take place over the 11th, 12th and 13th of July 2025, as ever, in Glasgow Green.

Keeping it varied — while also being relatively consistent across its individual days — there is excitement to be had at the prospect of seeing some of next year’s acts gracing the festival.

The opening day of the festival, Friday the 11th, gives us acts such as Twin Atlantic and Confidence Man, with Wet Leg, returning after becoming winners of the Grammy award for Best Alternative Music Album for their self-titled debut. This is along with popular artists such as KNEECAP; recent stars of their self-titled movie, showing the rise of the Northern Irish Hip-Hop group, and Scotland’s own Calum Bowie, with headliners being rap legend 50 Cent and The Script.

Saturday the 12th is the most consistent of the three days, with indie heavy hitters and highly acclaimed newcomers of the genre alike. There is undoubtedly sure to be a massive crossover between fans of Biffy Clyro and Fontaines D.C. as headliners, with some other acts of the day like Wunderhorse returning from this past year, now having released their lauded second album Midas; they’re sure to gather a great crowd of dedicated fans again. This isn’t the only overlap on the Venn diagram of acts for the day as Inhaler are performing, as well as The Kooks and Jake Bugg, who’ll be bringing their own unmistakable sounds respectively to the festival’s stage.

Northern Irish/Scottish hit makers Snow Patrol — known for songs such as Chasing Cars and Don’t Give In — and American singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, currently having her biggest success yet with single That’s So True, are currently slated to close the final day of the festival as headliners this year. Preceding Snow Patrol and Abrams throughout Sunday the 13th are bands The K’s, The Lathums and Shed Seven, along with Scottish acts Rianne Downey, Kerr Mercer, Nina Nesbitt, and with Nieve Ella also returning from this year’s line-up.

Overall this year the festival seems to have gathered a variety of artists from a largely cohesive sphere of music, mainly focusing on indie and pop/rock with a vein of rap and hip-hop. Fans of KNEECAP on Monday will likely want to stick around for 50 Cent’s headline and vice versa. Saturday is greatly catered to an indie crowd with some variation to be announced no doubt, while Sunday — although having the fewest acts — has a good line-up for a well-mixed pop, rock and indie crowd, ensuring everyone will be satisfied.

2025’s TRNSMT looks set to be a greatly entertaining festival for popular music lovers and live gig-goers. All of this is to say that as ever there are more acts still to be announced in the coming months and that there is much to look forward to.
