Emotionally rich and intensely raw: Ample House release sophomore single ‘Good Health’
It’s another belter from the Scottish alt-rock band.
After gaining over fifteen thousand streams in the weeks following the release of their debut single Better Person, anthemic alt-rock band Ample House are back with another belter. On their sophomore single Good Health, the Glasgow-based band explore the delicate balance between craving solitude and battling loneliness through yet another addictively gritty soundscape.
Opening with weighty guitar strums and the track’s reserved verses, Ample House have carefully infused their second single with melancholic undertones that really get under your skin (and never really leave), and which expertly build into the song’s euphoric and emotionally rich finale.
With the track swinging between these softer moments of heartfelt resonance and sharper flashes of rocky rawness, Good Health feels reminiscent of Jeff Buckley’s So Real in the way that it tugs at your heartstrings and inspires a lump in your throat. The track is laden with emotional vulnerability and confessional lyrics that are not only an honest portrayal of wrestling with feelings of anxiety but also really go to show Ample House’s unparalleled skill in transforming universal feelings into anthemic and dynamic indie music: “Some time to myself / To give me the good health.”
There is so much movement in their music and so much energy in their sound that listening to an Ample House track is an entirely enchanting and cathartic experience. I want to be screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs while I drive down the motorway. I want to be carelessly dancing to its hooky chorus in sweaty gig venues. And more than anything, I want to play the track again and again.
