Apocalypse-pop and crunchy riffs: Charles Moothart drops new single ‘Little Egg’
The talented member of Ty Segall’s live band shares new single under his real name.

The third taste of his upcoming LP, Black Holes Don’t Choke, Charles Moothart’s Little Egg is, true to his word, ‘apocalyptic-pop’, with Merseyside backing vocals and verses straight out of the Stones’ Beggars’ Banquet. What hatches from mellow, humble beginnings swells with Gallagher-esque fuzz and riffs that’ll please any Queens of the Stone Age fan. It’s a chugging track.
The whole thing feels raw, unpolished; a track taken between the demo and final mix stage. But that works given the observations Moothart offers up, on human parasites and ultimate annihilation. All the while, his soft, almost childish words help blur the line between apocalypse and feelgood. Fair to say, I’m curious to hear what the LA garage-rocker’s LP sounds like when it drops next month – but if it’s anything like this, he’s onto a winner.
