Bandicoot share new single ‘FUZZY’

Bandicoot steps it up a gear with raucous new single ‘Fuzzy’

Only their second single to be released on Libertino Records, Bandicoot may still be refining their sound, but their latest track Fuzzy is a very strong offering of playful post-punk from the Swansea-based quartet.

As the opening drums kick this song into life, you are immediately hit with an exceedingly catchy The White Stripes mixed with Kasabian style guitar riff, that is also reminiscent of older 70s/80s style classic rock. The drums on this track are a standout; not only carrying the beat of the song but also adding a lot of energy and character, particularly in moments such as the chorus, where the drums dramatically speed up along with the line “fuzzy, you’re the one for me.”

What steps it up another gear is the short but sweet guitar solo, which would be good enough to rival the best the genre had to offer, if only it were perhaps a tiny bit longer. It adds an element of a heavier garage sound, like that of Thee Oh Sees; who are notorious for their experimental and psychedelic style. The use of high pitched vocals could also be compared to them, as they similarly use this vocal style to harmonise with the guitar-heavy music.

An all-out effort from the clearly very talented foursome, the song really doesn’t leave you much time to catch your breath. A mixture of raucous rock and roll and a dash of stylish Glam Rock flair, it is certainly a statement from the upcoming young band and it’s safe to say I will be very eagerly anticipating a debut album.
