The Welsh indie rock Bandicoot have just released their brand new single this bank holiday weekend, aptly titled Worried Blues. Coming off the back of already releasing some great tracks this year — including FUZZY and Dark Too LongBandicoot have managed to produce another emotionally charged track that is a must-listen.

Describing the single, the band themselves say that it “inhabits a world of paranoia, born from a fear of lost love. It carries you down labyrinthine streets like a nightmarish memory, with a contagious strutting rhythm which never lets you stop moving along with it.”

Eerie piano chords and dreamlike vocals start the song and the resulting feeling it produces in the listener is incredibly striking – unnerving yet irresistible to continue.

You almost feel as if at that moment you know how this song is going to play out and what it’s going to be about. It nearly takes you by surprise when the riff hits and so much power seems to hit the song – it really works well to add the feeling of paranoia Bandicoot were looking for within this song.

The band have previously named the likes of Super Furry Animals and Radiohead as a few of the influences behind their sound. The mixing of different energies and feeling within this particular song pronounces the inspiration that these bands have on the development of Bandicoot’s sound.

Overall it’s just a really emotionally powerful song and a great listen — one I’m sure you’ll hit repeat on. Having signed with Libertino Records earlier in the year, Worried Blues is set to be another hit release and realisation of the band’s artistic abilities. Watch out for another phenomenal band coming from the valleys.
