Dreamy trip-hop therapy from Brighton’s Fable. She tells us to relax and we comply.

Womb by the mesmerising singer-songwriter Fable (born in Devon, but she hails from Brighton) starts slow and dreamy, and continues that way – at least until maybe three minutes in, when it goes up a notch, but barely. With its mellow bassline and seductive vocals pulling me in – like a sailor being lured by a siren – I found myself succumbing to its delightful atmosphere.

I’d not heard of Fable before this, but her style of music puts me in mind of Zero 7, Morcheeba, Massive Attack and Air. She seems to produce music that’s a form of audio therapy. The perfect antidote to the stressed pandemic times in which we find ourselves. I’ve recently had a few headaches that I cannot seem to shift, yet after a few minutes listening to Womb and one of her other tracks, Orbiting, I felt soothed – in much the same way you do when you settle nicely into a hot bath after a long day out in the cold.
