Despite describing their upcoming EP as a body of work that will introduce listeners to their ‘core sound’, Fake A Smile have already made their initial introductions through the release of their first single, Prom Dress – a song about staying in the present and going with the flow.

Channelling the likes of The Magic Gang with their laid-back energy and bouncy rhythms, Fake A Smile’s sunny sound fits perfectly into the British indie genre, embracing aspects of indie’s synth-filled pop and rockier edges to add an incredibly authentic track to the increasingly exciting and ever-growing genre.

The Bournemouth trio — made up of Jamie Kravos, Luca Ellison and Ryan Poole — effectively combine their catchy melody with grungy guitar strums and leisurely sonic stylings to create a real feel-good track filled with optimism. Radiating the warmth and wooziness of summer, Prom Dress is a song for those hot, sunny summer days; for driving in the car, windows down, music blasting. So, you might as well add it to your summer playlist now.

Filled with the carefree spirit that is characteristic of some of the best British indie bands, Prom Dress is an exciting glimpse at what’s to come from Fake A Smile.

Their debut EP, Shoot Me To The Moon, will be released later this year.
