GIRLS.SPEAK.FRENCH release striking single ‘Idea of You’

It may be a not-so-lovely love song, but it might just be your favourite release this Valentine’s Day.

From making their debut just last year to being nominated as best newcomer at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, Glaswegian indie rockers GIRLS.SPEAK.FRENCH have been making themselves known on the Scottish music scene with their dynamic soundscapes and earworm tunes. And so we think it’s time they’re known further afield, especially after their latest single Idea of You.

With an ambient opening, nostalgic feel and slower tempo than we’re used to, the track saunters around your brain like a lingering thought that you can’t quite get rid of – just as the melody sticks in your head. The chorus is as catchy as any other GSF song and the layered instrumentals provide a real depth of sound which only continues to emphasise just how technically proficient this band is.

Not to mention the track’s deliciously rich vocals that ooze through the quartet’s endlessly effortless sound, as well as the conversational lyricism that is beautifully mimicked by the lead guitar intertwining with soaring saxophone melodies. Such (and so many) lovely touches go to show that GSF are band who aren’t restricted to just words or sounds, but are instead capable of entering and communicating the core of any emotion, thought or feeling both sonically and lyrically.

Simply put, GSF just don’t miss.
