Greebo share new single ‘Settle Down or Knuckle Up’

Forming only last year, the trio release their third single and have no plans on stopping

The Essex trio, formed in July 2020 and churning out original songs since then — with three already released into the world — have shared a punky, unforgiving new track in the form of Settle Down or Knuckle Up.

It’s not every so often that you see an email from a band and just immediately know the song will be right up your street, but this is exactly what Greebo captured from me when their name appeared in my inbox.

With an aura of Irish post-punk outfit Fontaines D.C. about them, they expertly deliver the spoken word vocals over heavy basslines that have taken 2021 by storm. A cacophony of fast-paced, pent-up drum work mixed with the raw and honest vocals makes this band one to put on your radar. Just trust me on this one.

During a singular session at Black Cactus Studios, this song saw itself turned into a version ready for release in the space of a day — an impressive feat from a band you’re more than likely only discovering now.

The title “settle down or knuckle up” repeats itself throughout the track; creating a sense of dread and a fear of the self. The song isn’t about instigating a fight with someone in the Spoons’ smoking area, but much rather the internal battle in your own head.
