With disco-inspired synths and effortlessly funky bass, the five-piece don’t disappoint with their latest release.

Despite forming just over a year ago, Bristol quintet Home Counties have already received much acclaim and attention, boasting plays on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, as well as already having an EP and several singles behind them, the most recent being White Shirt / Clean Shirt, released earlier this month and already sitting pretty at an impressive three thousand streams (OK, it’s just under but it’s probably reached 3,000 once you finish reading).

A break away from the more guitar-fueled indie heard in their earlier releases, White Shirt / Clean Shirt highlights a new side of the band; incorporating bold, disco-and-dance-inspired sounds while still maintaining a slight post-punk feel, not dissimilar to bands like Working Men’s Club.

One stand out element of the track is the bass, which drives the song and adds a real funk vibe, while the retro-sounding synths and sharp, fast-paced drums make it sound like an instant indie dancefloor classic. 

Along with another recent release Modern Yuppies, the band have described this new sound as a “clearer taste” of where their music will go next; if White Shirt / Clean Shirt is anything to go by, we can expect good things from Home Counties in the near future.
