James Marriott finally sets hooky single ‘Don’t Blame Me’ loose
The final peak into James’ highly anticipated debut album might just be his best work yet.
Known for being both a YouTuber and musician, James Marriott has refused to pigeonhole himself in his online career and has now transferred this ethos to his music – having just released his emotionally raw break-up anthem Don’t Blame Me.
Differing from James’ previous tracks, the final single from his upcoming debut album Are We There Yet?, set for release on November 10th, features a slightly heavier rock sound from the rising musician, alongside a rawer vocal, which he uses to skilfully capture the rollercoaster of emotions that accompany a breakup, and musically mirror the lyrical highs and lows in the song’s verses and bridge.
So, whether you’re sad or just angry as hell, Don’t Blame Me is a song to dance, scream, cry and wail to. The track’s hooky rhythmic guitars and roaring chorus (not to mention bass-face-worthy post-chorus guitar riff) really put a shift in, while James’ emotive vocals keep the catchy and candid lyrics floating nicely atop this sonically packed track.
As a proper rock song from beginning to end, Don’t Blame Me can easily be played again and again – and we recommend that you do.
