Jessiqa Jones takes a bold turn with new single ‘it’s milk, DON’T CRY’
Multi-dimensional doesn’t do Jessiqa’s genre-hopping gift justice.

Departing from her previous soulful pop sound, singer-songwriter Jessiqa Jones’ first single of the year sees her embrace her younger self’s taste for boisterous grunge with angst-fuelled anthem it’s milk, DON’T CRY.
Beginning with a distorted guitar riff that is gradually uplifted by steady percussive steps, Jessiqa’s weightless vocals perfectly encapsulate the song’s themes of fear and insecurity. With honesty and vulnerability, they speak to the feelings of adolescence that every young person has felt, and sound as though some of the heart has been ripped out of them despite their delicate air, which is a bold creative choice from such a talented and soulful vocalist.
Yet, this heart soon returns in the track’s weighty chorus through a yell that is as perfect as it is pained, bringing added turbulence to a track that was already skilfully showcasing Jessiqa’s creative versatility.
Previously described as multi-dimensional, it’s milk, DON’T CRY makes us feel this word no longer does Jessiqa’s genre-hopping genius justice. An edgier, guitar-led sound perfectly suits the song’s tale of downplaying personal conflicts to make yourself feel better, and so we’re glad that Jessiqa was brave enough to embrace this busy genre to bring her creative vision to life.
But will Jessiqa stick to this new grunge-infused sound, or will we see her return to her pop roots? It doesn’t matter because either way, we’ll be listening.
