Lissy Taylor shares new single ‘Quiet Rage’ from forthcoming EP

Born in Stoke but raised in Kentucky, Lissy Taylor blends soothing vocals with powerful instrumentals to create a dreamy, yet dark sound on her newest single

Having lived in the UK and the USA, Lissy Taylor has taken inspiration from both sides of the Atlantic in her songwriting, her latest release being Quiet Rage, the first song from her upcoming EP, which is due for release this summer.

Beginning with soft guitars and emotive vocals — that effortlessly showcases hints of Lana Del Dey — the song builds up to a louder chorus which sounds pretty massive, yet still soothing and heartfelt. The way the drums and guitars stop and start in these sections gives it a really powerful impact. There’s just something about the general sound that reminds me a bit of some of Sam Fender’s catalogue.

Taylor has described the song as being about “trapped anger and bottled up feelings”, but with the hope that “over time these feelings will fade” (“I will grow / I will blossom”). Having already received praise from the likes of BBC Introducing, and having boasted plays on stations such as Absolute Radio, I wouldn’t be surprised if we will be hearing a lot more of Lissy Taylor soon.

Quiet Rage is out now.
