Now a father, Los Retros releases an effortless love song upon experiencing fatherhood for the first time.

First of all, it feels like a breezy afternoon spending time with your favourite person in the world. Mauri Tapia, the genius behind Los Retros, perfectly captures the heartwarming moment of falling in love on his new track, It’s Got to Be You. Being described as the “best jamming track” by his fans, the lighthearted, groovy single released on 23rd March will soon become what everybody jams and hums about. 

“It had to be you, no one else can have my heart; it’s got to be you; it feels so right to have you in my arms.” He sings over the twinkling of the instruments, showing how devoted he is in his relationship in a way most of us would swoon at. Happiness always sounds a little silly yet speaks the truth in life. Being a new parent is one of the happiest memories you’ll experience and Mauri, who has become a dad at 21, knows that better than anyone else. The first time meeting your newborn baby and holding him in your arms are those powerful moments that forever change your perspective and outlook on life.  

In between a strong Delegation vibe bassline, Tapia’s singing has the charm to make any sad person smile again. The songwriting seems effortless, yet the SunDrop vibe catches up like a conversation with an old friend you haven’t seen for years. 

Starting as a singer-songwriter based out of his family’s living room, recording on an old four-track, the early tracks soon gain momentum throughout the internet. The hit single “Someone To Spend Time With”—that he released to the masses in 2019—has already accumulated over 30 million streams. In 2020, the artist introspected on his vulnerable side, and he comes back in 2021 with newfound happiness.  

“In my songs, I’m just trying to make a beautiful three-to-six minute moment that makes you feel more positive about life,” said Tapia. He tries, and he most definitely succeeds.
