The new three-piece band Nightbus have shared their debut single and video — and it’s already becoming an absolute must-listen-to. Who are these new musicians on the scene and what makes them so damn good?

The members of Nightbus have entered the forever-dreaded phase in life of being in their mid-20s; a time for many that involves some deep soul searching. Olive, Jake and Zac have used this time to not only come together thanks to their shared love of music, but refine their shared tastes in style and start writing and creating songs. Our first introduction to their creations is with Way Past Three.

The first taste of their sound encapsulates a hazy, atmospheric dream-pop sound so well; some have compared the sonics of the single to The XX: superbly minimalist in its sound when it wants to be, the song finds a way to capture that aforementioned mid-20s confusion in song with its accompanying eerie vocals by lead vocalist Olive.

The video for the single adds a lot of passion to an already emotion-laden song. Starting in a rather run-down, quiet northern street in the early hours overlayed with unnerving keys from guitar, the video finds itself moving from location to location; whether that be from room to room of a house party, or to the stage of a creepy-looking dive in a basement, acting as a stage for the band.

Regarding their new single, Nightbus themselves say “We had this idea of making and creating alternative music that could either be played in the club or perhaps the journey home. Music that soundtracks the highs or even the lows — essentially music for the nighttime. Those early hours are and can be quite an exposing time, so we think this is the perfect introduction to Nightbus.”

Expect this single to be making quite some ripples in the next few weeks as we all eagerly anticipate what the band do next!
