overpass’ new single, Beautiful, is one of the best pieces of indie rock I’ve heard in a long time. A powerful backbeat, 2000s indie riffs and just a touch of Snow Patrol at their peak make this a binge worthy summertime cocktail, one that feels liberatingly fresh.

The band, who hail from Birmingham, have opened for the likes of Inhaler, Kaiser Chiefs and Two Door Cinema Club. Their debut headline tour sold out almost instantly, and this tune is already doing the rounds on BBC Radio 1 and Radio X. All this is to say that the group are rising stars of the UK indie scene, and with tracks like this forming their debut EP – released next February – it’s not hard to see why. The group’s sound is colossal, merging soundscapes of sun and never-ending nights with pop-rock bliss.

Beautiful is an anthem that effortlessly chugs along, no doubt proving a powerhouse on the stage. overpass are living up to the track’s namesake; the future looks bright for these Brummies. I can’t wait to hear the full EP in the new year; tunes like this are proof that indie rock is still alive and thriving.

From the Night is out February 16th via Is Right Records.
