Picture Parlour leave a lasting impression with their debut single ‘Norwegian Wood’

The hard-working band have finally shared their first single, having put a shift in on the live circuit since forming during the pandemic.

The Northern band (who have since moved down to the capital) have stirred up a storm in the music industry after landing a spot on NME’s cover, an unattainable dream for most upcoming bands. Sometimes a band is just that good, that together and collected, that the question of being “industry plants” is not on the table. I mean, who has time to debate whether a band are authentic or not?

Starting off as a duo together before Katherine Parlour and Ella Risi were joined by bassist Sian Lynch and drummer Michael Nash once they relocated to London, the band drew attention from their entrancing live shows and promising future. Akin to their rise, fellow gigging band The Last Dinner Party faced similar backlash when they released their debut single Nothing Matters and gained recognition seemingly “out of nowhere”, yet had simply been playing live and just so happened to catch the attention of an agent, whose friend had sent him a clip of them performing. Things just happen for a reason — and I’m not complaining.

Norwegian Wood is a stadium ready, raucous and raspy offering in the face of rock music; putting a spin on the genre to create something catchy and dynamic, making the band absolute ones to watch this year and the next, and so on…
