The self-proclaimed “indie Britney Spears” strikes again, this time with the announcement of her first mini-album.

It’s not every day that you can say you’ve been to someone’s tiny village hometown, but I have in fact been to Parbold, a small town in Lancashire, and it’s crazy to think it birthed such an incredible star.

Since moving to the nearest city, Liverpool, Pixey has been able to carve out an impressive career so far and has done that mainly from her bedroom, with only a few tracks taken into the studio.

With infectious beats and sugary sweet indie undertones, she makes music that’ll stick to your summer playlist like glue.

New release Recycled Paper Planes is no different — she gives a fresh spin to the 00s sounds of Spice Girls, KT Tunstall and Natasha Bedingfield, mixed with the aesthetic of Sporty and Baby Spice and a heavy dose of pure, unadulterated sunshine.

Mixing the use of intricate, thought-out lyrics, with pulsating guitar and fiery vocals, the perfect introduction to the upcoming debut mini album is made.
