PRISMA puts us in the fast lane on ‘Drive’

Pop

With a simple, pulsating beat but captivating, lingering lyrics, PRISMA have discovered the key ingredients for a catchy, pop-laden bop.

By using a fast-paced tempo and shouting “hey! I’m on my way!” over the beat, the duo — consisting of sisters Frida and Sirid Møl Kristensen — creates a clear vision of driving fast. For me, this track envisions driving along the motorway with the windows down — but not when there’s traffic, of course.

It’s clever, and not an easy task, to make a song that sounds like how driving feels. You can make a song about driving, that’s simple, but to actually put the listener behind the wheel? That’s genius.

It feels as if this track would fit well in a driving scene (I mean, what else?) in a movie — maybe that’s the sound of a car driving away at the end that puts that into my mind.

Although the band have crafted a unique sound, I can’t help but find them reminiscent of the witty Wet Leg, who have seen a metaphoric rise in the past few months. Perhaps it’s the duo of two women or the unforgivingness of both. Whatever it is, they’d be unstoppable on a line-up together.

Drive is out now via Luna Sky Recordings.
