smallthoughts shares sweet debut single ‘(lovesong)’
The Yorkshire-residing bedroom-pop aficionado nails it with this beautiful ode to love
Yorkshire solo artist and producer Joe Mitchell, who goes by the moniker of smallthoughts, shared his debut single with the world earlier this month and it’s one you’re not going to want to pass up.
Produced entirely by himself in his bedroom, it starts off with what sounds like a recording of the hustle and bustle of a pub (yes, we can go back there now!) — a familiar sound many of us love. It erupts into a funky, bedroom-pop bop; singing about falling in love over a juxtaposing beat.
Inspired by his grandparents’ love, it’s most certainly a love song to warm even the coldest of hearts. With lyrics about growing old with that ‘special someone’, it comes as the ultimate Valentines track two months later.
We’re met with a riff amongst all of the decadent jazzy beats and heart-wrenching lyrics, tying the song with a neat little ribbon and making it the perfect springtime song. This one is the dose of serotonin we all need.
Keep an eye on this one, especially if you’re a fan of Alfie Templeman’s smooth, soft-spoken alter ego Ariel Days.
