The band return with their first music of 2024.

Airport Barfight is Manchester act YAANG’s first release of 2024 — and it’s a belter. Following performances with Fat Dog and Death From Above 1979, and backing from the Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, the punk-trio are back for a fistful of smash-and-grab rock.

Airport Barfight packs the same punch and youthful rage as its name would suggest, echoing modern-day punk fuzz a la Dry Cleaning, and Squid. It’s a no-nonsense upper cut of indie rock, complete with shouty vocals, head bang-worthy chorus and frenzied licks.

At not even two-and-a-half minutes in length, it’s a post-punk anthem in every aspect, blazing with teenage rebellion – it feels like a long time since rock was this good, and just in time for the summer, too. In a way, I don’t have much to say. There are no flowery bridges, technical flourishes or intricate mathematics going on with this release; no hidden clockwork behind the curtain. It’s bloody good indie rock, and hallelujah for it. YAANG are warming up for the headliner slots with this one.
