The Scots hit all the right chords.

The Lines’ LIPS owes as much to late ‘70s funk as it does modern indie rock, with dancefloor-ready lick and disco melodies. The band’s frontman, Harry Gallacher, is unapologetically Scottish in delivery, channelling his inner Mel Gibson for the breadth of the song. Yet, somehow, it does nothing to dampen the sonics of the piece – instead complementing a catchy tune with classic alt-rock adolescence.

Clocking in at a little over two minutes, LIPS is a conservative affair in length only. It’s a track that bears repeating continuously, something to bounce to as much as jive – there’s no denying it, this is an odd one. But an oddity which shines.
