From playing house shows in the Bay Area to embracing LA’s colourful music scene at venues like the Viper Room, Vindigo are gradually building momentum in the US by tearing up local venues with fan favourite tracks What Should We Do Tonight? and Talk 2 Me. But with LA’s live circuit now under their belt, the garage rockers are ready to go bigger, envisioning 2024 as the year they’ll expand even further – maybe even across the globe.

The quartet’s latest single Like You sees the band make their first stab at this, and fortunately for us sees them do so with power, poignance and confidence. Sticking to your soul like gum, Like You is a mucky indie song that marks itself as the breakup track you wish you’d had when you last thought about that someone.

Anthemic to its core; the track combines grandiose guitar riffs and a 90s grunge sound, capturing both the anger and catharsis of a relationship’s downfall. Its explosive chorus could easily be spat but lead singer Dakota Brubaker’s decision to embrace laid-back vocals smartly adds additional introspection and poignance to the already lyrically striking song.

With meaty melodies also evoking the ambience of today’s upbeat indie alongside scratchy guitars and the smash and crash of drums, Vindigo have managed to bring underground noise together with melodic indie on this latest single, and so are placing themselves in a nice position to soundtrack life for the new alt generation.
