Yndling, also known as Norwegian artist Silje Espevik, in her second single Cotton Candy Skies captures a vibe almost as sweet and syrupy as the songs name. The song takes us into a new world with its overwhelming instrumentation which feels somewhere between a sunny summer’s day and a night out; lit by the glimmer of a disco ball.

Despite its sweet and idyllic sound, there is no hiding for Yndling in this song as she explores a real honest sense of vulnerability within the lyrics. Lyrics that include lines like “my life is floating by” and “I miss the sound of you breathing” evoke a true sense of human sadness through unique imagery and the exploration of the minutiae of relationships. There is still such a sense of escape through the musicality of the song, even though its lyrics tap into something so unabashedly human.

There’s no stopping Yndling, who looks to be pushing forward with new music, through the hints of studio time that we see on her very minimalist social media. She is definitely someone to keep your eyes and ears out for if nothing but for the escape her music facilitates.
