Well, it’s about bloody time for this band of best friends. After teasing us at Lytham Festival and Sheffield Octagon, Courteeners have finally announced their highly anticipated and much-awaited album Pink Cactus Café will be released this October. With the announcement of the album comes news of an arena tour, taking the band around the UK and including a stop in their hometown of Manchester.

Can’t wait until then? Then you are in luck, as the Middleton–based band have just released their first single from the album, Solitude of The Night Bus, which is now available on all streaming platforms. After More. Again. Forever. the single poses a new and more mature sound for the band – that has certainly aged them like fine wine.

The track is bouncy and has a dance music feel to it, which is most certainly a step away from the typical indie rock sound that they are renowned for across Manchester. The melody is simple and repetitive – certainly needed after their absence in the charts. With TRNSMT right around the corner, this song is certainly going to leave them astounded and in awe when 20,000+ people are singing a week-old track straight back at them.

If you’re an avid follower of the band, like myself, you will be very familiar with the Facebook Group, The Courteeners’ Fan Page. I’ve never seen a community of people so ecstatic about this news. We had countdowns and theories galore as to what to expect over the last twenty-four hours and this beats it all.

Roll on tomorrow lads – HWFG!

Pink Cactus Café is out October 25th via Ignition Records. Pre-order the album here.
