Lose is the tentative debut single from Daniel Boeckner – frontman of Canadian indie-rock outfit Wolf Parade – and the first taste of his upcoming solo project, Boeckner!

It’s a strong start, with the rocker looking to sate alt-rock appetites if this track is anything to go by. Lose is a lovable piece of art-rock, complete with mesh-grate echoes and dancefloor whomps. There’s ‘80s synth in here, rich gothic melodies and some darn catchy choruses thrown in.

At nearly five minutes of runtime, Lose is a generous helping, and yet finished far too quickly for my liking. The track is a sign that Boeckner’s music career is healthy, nay, alive and screaming, adding to an already solid discography. May this one be the first of many addictive anthems from the new album, slated for a March 15th release.

Boeckner! is out March 15th via Sub Pop.
