FIZZ release first single and announce debut album ‘The Secret To Life’
The news comes just a week after the four-piece introduced their new collaboration to the world.
Following last week’s announcement that beloved musicians dodie, Orla Gartland, Greta Isaac and Martin Luke Brown had recently formed a band simply named FIZZ, the supergroup-of-sorts today announced their debut album, The Secret To Life, alongside the release of their first single High In Brighton.
Set to be released this autumn, FIZZ’s album will feature twelve tracks that were written by the collective of musicians last summer, likely filled with dreamlike qualities and maximalist elements, as the band seek to use their music to discover the secret to life (hence the album’s title).
Today, FIZZ officially began this musical quest by letting us into their colourful and unpredictable world for the first time via the announcement’s accompanying track. Speaking about the meaning behind their debut single, FIZZ said, “Real life is boring. ‘High In Brighton’ is a psychedelic yearning to escape to a fantasised seaside town complete with a key change, honky tonk piano, high-speed drums and even a clarinet solo. ‘so f*ck it, I’m leaving, I’m out of here I got a one-way ticket to heaaaven…’.”
Having already played a surprise show at The Great Escape this May, FIZZ’s first official headline show will take place on Wednesday 21st June at London’s Hoxton Hall, with tickets going on sale this Friday (16th June) at 10am, and the band also appearing at a number of festivals this summer, including Latitude and Barn On The Farm.
The Secret To Life is out on September 15th via Decca Records.
