Indie newcomers Lip Filler announce self-titled debut EP and share new track ‘Monster Truck’
The EP is set to land on the 4th of May.
They have the trademark of every great indie band: the kooky name you daren’t forget (so don’t).
Lip Filler are doing it differently. Mixing dance-punk and indie-pop influences, the band of five friends — George Tucker (vocals, keys), Verity Hughes (vocals, guitar), Jude Scholefield (guitar), Theodore Pasmore (guitar), Nate Wicks (drums) — have found a common ground with one another and used that to create boisterous sounds that set them apart from their peers.
Monster Truck is a testament to that friendship; coming together within the walls of the flat the band share above a chicken shop in Shepherds Bush. As mentioned by the band, the track is “a take on American high school culture we derived from films like Napoleon Dynamite. The song’s written from the perspective of an awkward high school teen who has a crush on their next-door neighbour.”
The forthcoming self-titled EP will be released on May 4th via indie tastemakers Chess Club Records: the label that’s home to Phoebe Green, Alfie Templeman, Pixey and many more.
