Berlin-based musician Zylva is starting off the summer right with the release of her debut album Poems from the Dark, making her swift entrance into the music industry this year with her debut single DreamSs (read our review here). Rooted in a masterful combination of singer-songwriter, dreamy pop, and electronic influence, Zylva has made quite the first impression. Now she’s ready to take it to the next level with the release of her album.

The second single from the album, Midsummer Night, was announced alongside the reveal of the album. Lead by dreamy piano, Vocaloid-enhanced vocals, reverb, and tiny sonic elements that add to the dreamy environment, it’s an electronic ballad that’s sure to pull anyone into its allure. Inspired by a first date, it’s a vulnerable piece that’s as emotional as it is beautiful. Midsummer Nigtht’s music video is minimalistic yet complements the song perfectly as Zylva creates an abstract art piece in a performance hall and sets it on top of a grand piano; likely representing the emotions the song displays in a unique way.

Zylva was originally trained in classical music; studying the art form for years. A move to Berlin caused a shift that led her to dip her does back into the genre blended sound she now hones. While she may be a newcomer in the industry from this aspect, do not be fooled. Using music as a healing outlet, it’s evident that she is well in tune with herself and the music scape. It’s only a matter of time before she rises upward.

Poems from the Dark will be released on June 9th via Squama Records.
