Who are L.S. Dunes? The supergroup no one saw coming
Remaining a mystery after appearing on Chicago’s Riot Fest lineup, the band have finally revealed themselves to the world.
We know what you’re thinking: “Who on earth are L.S. Dunes”? You’ve likely heard of them in passing or in some random tweet, not knowing who the mysterious entourage is. That is, until now.
L.S. Dunes is, surprisingly, a supergroup that no one saw coming. Comprised of Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance, Anthony Green from Circa Survive, Travis Stever from Coheed and Cambria and, last but certainly not least, Tim Payne and Tucker Rule from Thursday: this group has an immense amount of star power. While the members of the band are certainly one that fans of any of the bands didn’t see coming, what followed the grand reveal would be a delightful surprise all around.
Dropping their debut single, Permanent Rebellion, the post-hardcore group announced a few other treats. Their debut album, Past Lives, will be released on the 11th of October. To promote the album and their debut, L.S. Dunes will be embarking on their first tour, making multiple U.S. appearances with select dates in Canada and Mexico. Their first stop will be none other than Chicago’s own Riot Fest, where Iero’s band My Chemical Romance will be closing the night as Friday’s headliner. Their first ever live performance in history being at one of the biggest rock and alternative festivals in the world just feels right.
And if that wasn’t enough for L.S. Dunes to be making waves in the scene, the music video for Permanent Rebellion was released the same day. Fusing black-and-white old-school videography, colour film aesthetics, and the classic “band jamming out in a big room for a video” genre, L.S. Dunes debut video feels like it’s ripped from 90s MTV. An all-out thrasher, metalheads and post-hardcore fans will find common ground on Permanent Rebellion. What comes next for the supergroup beyond their debut album and tour remains unknown. For now, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Past Lives is out on October 11th via Fantasy Records.
