The Rills announce debut album ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’

Beloved indie three-piece The Rills have announced their debut album, Don’t Be A Stranger, set for release on November 1st.
Hailing from Lincoln and riddled with a severe case of indie fever, The Rills took lockdown by the gullet and emerged in good shape with a robust fanbase and substantial social media buzz. After a string of quintessentially ‘hype’ post-punk singles and EPs, Mitchell Spencer, Callum Warner-Webb and Mason Cassar are back and, this time, self-admittedly diving straight into the deep end with their most mature and refined release yet.
Via AWAL & Nice Swan Records and produced by Dave McCracken (Ian Brown, Sports Team), the three friends are capitalising on their viral success and channelling their promising vitality into an eleven-track enthusiastic debut. From the racy splendour of ‘90s Formula One to the saturated hedonism of Baz Luhrmann, the album’s stimuli are a solid reflection of all that’s bigger and better — and that’s just the place the band are heading. With a UK tour impending in November and an impressive year of festivals lined-up in 2025, it seems like the perfect time for The Rills to be ambitious.
But don’t wait to get a glimpse of all the glamour, the album’s lead single Your Dad’s Car is already out and anticipating your listen. It’s an honest power ballad which is sonically tender and surfaces from the deep grooves of a worn VW, lyrically ruminating on the band’s first tour van. Frontman Mitch confesses, “I was trying to exorcise some demons on that one”.
