Ample House share mighty debut single ‘Better Person’

As their name suggests, Ample House’s debut single is an abundant track that speaks to the three-piece’s rich guitar sound, strong collaborative vision and role as generous and emotional storytellers.
Written in the wake of a life-changing move from Scotland’s quiet north-east to the notoriously rowdy Glasgow, Better Person captures the long-term friends’ personal and raw reflection on this huge change.
Beginning as an intimate conversation with soft piano chords and smooth fingerpicking, the track makes an instant impact through its melancholic introspection and heartfelt vocals, before building to an anthemic finale that’s expertly tinged with both sadness and hope.
It’s easy to imagine the song giving anyone who feels a bit lost a huge release of emotion and it feels pretty much guaranteed that the track’s powerful plea for redemption will be chanted back to the band when the song reaches its summit live.
But atmospheric and dynamic indie grit is not all Ample House have to offer. Lyrically, the song channels universal emotions in a way that’s not only intensely relatable but also feels exceptionally honest and intentional.
Coming in at just over three minutes, Better Person is an incredibly potent debut that resonates well past its short length, making it easy to confidently identify Ample House as a stimulating new band to keep an eye on in 2025.
