South London is renowned as one of the beating epicentres of all that’s new and hip in the music world and its latest offering comes in the shape of a moody and traditional duet sung by two of its folk staples.

Lando Manning and Misty Miller have respectively charmed audiences with their authentic approach to songwriting, frequenting legendary indie haunts such as the Windmill Brixton and garnering respect within the local scene. After meeting on the circuit, they decided to join forces back in 2023 whilst Misty was taking a brief hiatus from music after the birth of her son. Their co-writing proved to be fruitful and resulted in a haunting and wistful single, inspired by their mutual admiration of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood and British folk standards.

By & By is both achingly warm and bracingly cold, with crispy acoustics and saccharine harmonies, it’s the perfect blend of all that’s ghostly and meditative. Misty reflects on the process: “I think that is the magic of collaboration. You find something in yourself you were previously blind to.” The song flourishes as a duet, as their contrasting vocals find a tranquil balance within the deep recesses of the ruminating accompaniment.

The single was debuted at a one-off show at Dash The Henge in Camberwell on the day of its release on November 21st.

By & By is now available on all streaming platforms via Mango Wax Records
