Lauran Hibberd shares latest track ‘Bleugh’ from her upcoming EP

Bleugh takes on a rockier side compared to her previous releases and shows Lauran reaching the apex of Brit rocker

Pop rocker Lauran Hibberd has given us another taste of upcoming EP Goober with her latest single, Bleugh. Preceded by lead single How Am I Still Alive? (with Lydia Night of The Regrettes) and two previously released songs (Boy Bye and Old Nudes), Lauran’s latest single is a pop-rock banger full of sarcastic wit.

Composed of messy guitar chord progressions, plenty of sing-talky moments, and passive aggression, Hibberd attempts to give a send-off to someone who doesn’t seem to truly share her affections. While she realizes this, she still finds herself making the same ol’ mistakes, notably singing “It's not exactly like I've learned my lesson / I make myself feel sick but / I still find myself dressing up to watch you play drums, it’s depressing”, but appears determined to see the end through, continuing with “Anytime you try to call me after 7 weeks alone / I will sit on both my hands and watch it go to answerphone”. This situation won’t end well either way, but she’s well aware. She even goes as far as to say that there will be no marriage, babies, or even a dog to be shared between them; just bitterness.

Appearing as the closing track to Goober, Hibberd finishes the EP off on a high strung note. Bleugh takes on more of a rockier side compared to her previous releases and is arguably Lauran at the apex of Brit rocker. With the EP on the way and a tour to accompany it, it’s no surprise that Lauran Hibberd is doing so well, and doing it her own way.
