Fizzing with vibrant melodies, bubbly rhythms and all the free spirit of a drunk British festivalgoer, Lost in Vancouver’s latest single Voicemail is the very definition of infectious indie-rock.

Written in 2022 by the Edinburgh-based quartet – consisting of Jake Morgan (lead vocals/guitar), Charlie Lightlower (lead guitar), Scott Keating (bass) and Callum Davidson (drums) – Voicemail skilfully captures the story of an unexpected breakup through a tale of swinging sensitivities, which effortlessly demonstrates Lost in Vancouver’s capacity to write an absolute tune.

Rich in feel-good summer energy, not to mention infectious guitars, the track captures two intensely captivating sides to this extremely colourful band. Beginning with the blissful ignorance of someone who’s in denial about their breakup, Voicemail opens with its driving rhythm section and immensely quotable lyrics to then build into the release of its insanely catchy chorus, which is reminiscent of The Strokes whilst still being distinctively its own.

Yet it’s in the song’s climax, when the protagonist is hit with the reality of their breakup, that we really see the band unleash their anthemic potential. Smashing drums, vivid harmonies and ever-intensifying guitars come together to send the song to almost stratospheric levels of energy and class. Pretty much setting Lost in Vancouver up for a future festival slot and guaranteeing that this voicemail will be listened to again and again.

Voicemail is out now.
