Everyone’s favourite Las Vegas sweethearts The Killers are still on the road supporting their latest greatest hits compilation, Rebel Diamonds. Yet, a surprise to fans old and new, they’ve found time to pump out a new single, Bright Lights – an ode to the group’s humble, Nevada upbringing – and it rocks.

With Bright Lights, The Killers return to where they were in 2020, before the eclectic childhood diary of Pressure Machine. With big, airy, Imploding the Mirage heartland rock, there’s a touch of the personal Sam’s Town in here too, helped along by a kicking backbeat and E Street Band-esque rhythm section. If you’re looking for the raw, un-Botox-ed indie rock of Hot Fuss, you won’t find it here; the four-piece have made it increasingly obvious that the days of Mr. Brightside and Smile Like You Mean It are long gone. But, if you like the lightning-in-a-banshee feel of Springsteen and Mellencamp – among the bright lights of the Mojave where even the dust beneath your feet feels like opportunity – this release could never hope to disappoint.
