Loyle Carner marks comeback with release of two singles ‘all i need’ and ‘in my mind’
The British singer has made his comeback with new releases featuring an alternative influence.
South London-born Loyle Carner has released new tracks all i need and in my mind, his first music release since his album hugo in 2022, which reached number three in the UK charts, reimagined in his 2023 Live From the Royal Albert Hall release.
all i need expresses vulnerability with the musical influence of bands such as Fontaines D.C. and Idles. Known for his poetic rap, Carner has taken the step to dive into his love for alternative music and allows himself to express this throughout his newest tracks. Described as “oscillating between images of rage and hope”, this is reflected within the chorus, which is guitar-heavy before reaching a peaceful peak.
The double release also features B-side in my mind, recorded with Carner’s son on his shoulders. Allowing himself to step out of his comfort zone and feature his hidden singing voice on the single, the combination of vulnerable lyrics and a hazy beat sees the Brit stepping into his new creative era.
This year is set to be a big year for the Londoner, who is set to headline Glastonbury’s The Other Stage on June 27th for his only show of the summer, whilst also pushing himself in a new creative direction with a debut acting performance in BBC Drama Mint.
After first emerging in 2013, Carner has gone on to be nominated for BRIT and NME Awards and receive 1.1 billion streams worldwide. Continuing his growth, this new era seems to be presenting the Brit in his truest form, and 2025 is looking to be another big year.
all i want and in my mind are out now via Island EMI.
