Sixth Day release rousing new single ‘Run!’
Inspired by the likes of Fontaines D.C., the band’s latest track is both high energy and hooky.
Manchester has long set the scene for the rise of some of the world’s most exciting bands. From The 1975 and Blossoms to Oasis and The Smiths, the legendary city is no stranger to great indie music. Now hoping to add their name to this ever-growing list of legends are indie rock five-piece Sixth Day.
On their latest single Run!, the band bring their high Mancunian energy to the table as the driving, bass-heavy verses effortlessly build into the explosion of the track’s deliciously hooky chorus. Clearly inspired by the likes of Wunderhorse, whose most recent record was written with live performance in mind, Sixth Day had a similar process when writing this track. Run! is a song that’s sure to be a real treat live, with fans almost guaranteed to be bouncing around to the thud of the drums and shouting the lyrics to the song’s striking chorus: “I’m just a boy / I’m just a toy / in your game.”
Reflecting the ups and downs of a relationship with its gritty guitar tones and relentless rhythms, it’s an exciting track from a band who clearly have a lot to offer. So, keep an eye out for their debut EP coming in the next few months.
Run! is now available on all streaming platforms.
