Tough Cookie, coming off the success of their debut track, Emory, have released a new track, Happiness, with a sound fitting of eras past in the best way possible. Happiness would easily fit in place in a rock playlist encompassing 90s and 2000s rock without even batting an eye, despite it coming out in 2025.

The instrumentals of this track are absolutely wonderful to hear, as it invokes emotions that are all over the place in the best possible way. Everything about the instrumentals clicks in all of the right places, so it’s even better that the vocals do this song justice. There’s a distinct feeling of nostalgia, as someone who absolutely loves rock and all that encompasses it; this feels like the kind of track that creates a cult following for a band, and for good reason, as everything done here just works. It lives together, it has life within every aspect of it, providing five minutes that just fly by in the most spectacular way imaginable.

Tough Cookie will most certainly continue to go up from here, as the sky itself is the only limit for the band. Putting into perspective everything that surrounds the band, you feel like you’re dealing with 20-year music veterans in the decisions they make sonically. Happiness is an absolute treat to listen to, and will create even more opportunities for the collective to hit out of the park.

Happiness is out now via Gravity Records.
